What is PIPS?

Pine Island Piano Studios (PIPS) is comprised of the piano studios of Yuko Shiina and Anders DaiWah Martinson.  PIPS provides a broad spectrum of piano education, from the beginning to the conservatory levels.  We prepare students for the MMTA graded piano exams, covering the fundamentals of theory, ear-training, keyboard skills and performance.   We also offer in-depth training for future careers in piano performance.

In addition to private lessons, all levels of students can participate in bi-weekly recitals, which take place on site at PIPS in Minnetonka. These frequent recitals give the students valuable performance opportunities, as well as a meaningful musical community and a place to create lasting friendships.

History of PIPS

Yuko Shiina and Anders DaiWah Martinson relocated to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area this past year, having taught piano for twenty years in Los Angeles.  Here they have joined forces to create the Pine Island Piano Studios (PIPS).  Together, they also perform as the Pips Piano Duo, playing four-hand piano repertoire.
